Open Relationships

The cheating thread got me thinking. Is anybody in an open relationship or a polyamorous relationship?
Over the years I've known people in one of those two and they say everything is fine, but it doesn't take a genius to see it's not (at least in the long run).
I lived with this gal (OT 1) in college a few years back. She was dating another girl (OT 3/4) and a guy at the same time and they both knew about it and were fine with it, or at least pretended to be. Eventually the cracks started to show. It fricked the guy up so much in the head that he became a "woman" and eventually he became "genderless" and had to spend time in a nuthouse. He went from relatively normal (for a lib) to asking me to use the pronoun "ze" for him (which I refused).
I've yet to see one of these kinds of relationships last more than a couple of months. Anyone has experience?
TL;DR - Anybody in a relationship where it's a banging free-for-all?

My cousin and his ex were like that. It ended exactly how you would think. At some point, both get jealous.

It never works because someone ends up jealous but it may work for us

Nothing ruins a party like a couple of pricks.

That's the exact lack of quality I've come to expect from these sort of arrangements.

Your mom seems mostly cool with it.

There was a poster on here a few years back, ShortyRob I think, that would come in and brag about his open relationship and what not. Then one day he had a nervous breakdown and told Tigerdroppings that he was going to kill himself and such.
So, maybe that's a small glimpse in to the life of Open Relationships

I've been in a swinging relationship before and I wouldn't recommend it.

what a beta
on a more serious reply, as good as the open relationship idea sounds, i strongly believe we're naturally wired to have a closed relationship with only one person. i know that sounds weird cause cause humans are animals too, but the ability to think and process information in our brains and have actual feelings is what separates us from all other species.
i have no evidence to back that up other than a few OT stories i've read over the years. i also believe that a monogamous relationships can happen, but as time goes by, those relationships will be few and far between. as mentioned in the cheating thread, it's so much easier to do it with the way information is passed now days. it was also mentioned that single women will always be on the look out for something better during relationships. and if that's really the case, then that relationship isn't real to begin with.
it sucks because someone like me believes i'll never get married because the ones i'm generally attracted to are those types that cheat and i don't want to deal with that kind of drama. and they're usually the more attractive ones. maybe i really am a beta

You mean like a cuck? There are plenty who post on the Poli Board.

Someone eventually is going to get jealous. My advice would be to look at that type of arrangement as nothing more than a f*ck buddy or friends with benefits....the moment you start to catch feelings, get out.....it probably won't end well if you let yourself fall in love with a chick in an open relationship.

My ole lady was a nine and I ended up having to frick a bunch of fives and sixes. Everytime we walked into a place all of the guys zeroed in on her as soon as we walked in. It got old after a while.

So you're saying you fricked a bunch of average looking guys with your ole lady?

Yes unfortunately this is real life. I went back and found his/its facebook post from a couple of years ago. At one point he was an average guy that would bang the hell out of my roommate and watch football with me, then eventually the polyamorous relationship fricked him up and he became a woman and then a few months later this......

Neither of those was his name. This is how some people are. Once I moved out of there I avoided this freak show like the plague. I keep him around on facebook because he's so pathetic it's always good for a laugh.

So as you may have noticed, I am changing my name from ________ to _________. At the beginning of the year I began to re-question my gender identity and realized that I identify as Genderqueer (which is a gender identity outside of the man/woman binary). So to make myself more comfortable, I recently chose a gender neutral name and I'm really really happy with it. :) Also, my preferred pronouns are no longer she/her. I prefer gender neutral pronouns, specifically ey/em/eir (which is the they/them/their set without the th). So as an example of that you would say "ey is going to the store" and "let me talk with em about it" and "that is eir shirt." If that is difficult for you, any gender neutral set is perfectly fine such as they/them/their, ze/hir, ze/zir, etc. And while I'm somewhat uncomfortable with feminine pronouns, they are also acceptable. Thank you all for all the amazing support you've given me. You all mean the world to me. Let me know if you have any questions.
