quote: So as you may have noticed, I am changing my name from ________ to _________. At the beginning of the year I began to re-question my gender identity and realized that I identify as Genderqueer (which is a gender identity outside of the man/woman binary). So to make myself more comfortable, I recently chose a gender neutral name and I'm really really happy with it. :) Also, my preferred pronouns are no longer she/her. I prefer gender neutral pronouns, specifically ey/em/eir (which is the they/them/their set without the th). So as an example of that you would say "ey is going to the store" and "let me talk with em about it" and "that is eir shirt." If that is difficult for you, any gender neutral set is perfectly fine such as they/them/their, ze/hir, ze/zir, etc. And while I'm somewhat uncomfortable with feminine pronouns, they are also acceptable. Thank you all for all the amazing support you've given me. You all mean the world to me. Let me know if you have any questions.
frick that.
I don't want to live in this world where we have to learn a bunch of new pronouns to coddle a handful of people with mental health issues

Im sure I''ll get a bunch of downvotes but heres my 0.02...
Theres a big difference between open relationships, polyamorous relationships, and couples who are swingers. Just as with any relationship, communication and trust are the keys to making it work. Ive known many married couples who were into swinging and some who had open relationships (NO WE ARE NOT INTO EITHER). Never known any involved in polyamory but have seen parts of thr series on it.
Ive found that the couples who have a 24/7 hall pass seem to eventually have problems because thats pretty much a bang whoever type situation. Those who are into swinging and only act together, seem to be fine because everything is agreed upon before anything happens (communication) and they know things will not go further than what their spouse is/isnt ok with (trust). Are there instances that cause things to breakdown? Im sure there are but to me that would have been a sign that the trust and communication level isnt where it shouldve been to begin with.
It obviously isnt for the majority of couples but Ive known some couples who have been married 20-30yrs that are into swinging and still going strong. Ive also known some who didnt work out. In the end I think it really just depends on how strong your relationship is. Just like any other marriage, no matter what the situation, if there is a breakdown somewhere with communication and trust then obviously there will be issues and problems.
Disclaimer:
ONCE AGAIN, WE ARE NOT INVOLVED IN SWINGING OR AN OPEN RELATIONSHIP.

He moved to another state because so he could receive better (more taxpayer funded) mental healthcare. Shocker, I know. Welcome to Obama and Nasty's nuMerica.

it takes real maturity, emotionally and spiritually.
I suspect that the guy in your instance from college was already an interesting case, and that is why he appealed to the lesbian/bi girls.
he did not represent the threat that a strong man would.

My wife says it's to learn new things to bring back to me. What could go wrong?

Dated a girl at another university. We decided to have an open relationship, yet called every day and spent hours on the phone each week. It ended up just causing heartache and lead to me breaking things off.

There is anthropological evidence that hunter-gatherer human tribes were generally monogamous. Once agriculture began, some men and women were able to acquire more resources and power allowing for polygamy.
From a theoretical perspective, monogamy provides stability to the issue of mate selection via a Nash equilibrium, ie. alpha male to alpha female, beta male to beta female, etc. This provides a relatively satisfactory solution to everyone compared to other strategies.

This is pretty much how I'd think it would go. Just watch Hall Pass.

Nobody's asking the important questions yet....so you lived with a chick who was into polygamy. Were you at least banging her too? Or why not?

I'm in an open relationship... but my girlfriend gets a lot more sex then I do

She's a SJW earthy hippy who didn't wear makeup (not that it would have helped). She was the cousin of my roommate so I didn't put up a fight with her moving in. She's a bleeding heart Bernie Sanders lib and the only place she could find a job after college was deep in the heart of the reddest part of Texas. That's just pure cosmic irony right there.
Now I would have banged her gf, but she was full on lez and I was already dating someone at the time.

Were yall in different states or a large distance from each other? Long distance relationships are hard enough, let alone being apart most of thr time and having an open relationship.

Yea, she was in another state. Our entire relationship was long distance, but after the first year ended up deciding upon the "open relationship." It was essentially neither one of us having the maturity to admit that we weren't happy being apart. We didn't really want to break up but weren't really happy being exclusive.
Dumb dumb dumb.
This is obviously very different from an open relationship from where you actually live in the same town and or with your main SO. Couldn't ever imagine doing something like that.
