UVA is not the typical charter school, and not like the brick and mortar manipulate-the-system-for -profit charter schools in BR.

University View Academy is Louisiana’s highest performing free, public K-12 online Charter School where students can excel using a rigorous state approved curriculum under the direction of certified teachers.
Our students come from all corners of the state, from all backgrounds and University View Academy brings a quality school directly to their homes. The school was formed in 2011 and was previously known as Louisiana Connections Academy.
University View Academy is authorized by the Louisiana Board of Elementary and Secondary Education and is solely operated by Foundation for Louisiana Students, a non-profit corporation. The school is governed by a board of directors and the board meetings are open to the public.
The school charges no fees for materials and no tuition. Online classes meet or exceed national and state standards while integrating the best materials and resources available to keep students engaged and challenged.
Children prosper when their parents take an active role in education. As learning coaches, parents use a hands-on approach to be closely involved in daily classes and they work with dedicated teachers to keep the students on track.

Schools need to move online and all the buildings/properties need to be sold to developers.
What about social development that schools help? If everything is online I feel like we'll be seeing even more kids finishing schools with zero social skills.

One of the classrooms I volunteer in, had 5 students show up direct from the charter schools late October. Dont believe me, go volunteer. Go to school board meetings. Talk to teachers.
They were probably kicked out of the charter school, or chose to leave because they could not handle the higher demands placed upon them.

The charter school still gets the taxpayer money for educating the student. Its a cycle, sign up as many students as possible, get the official count for the year, purge, get paid.
Huh. This is alarming if true.
For sure. Thankfully, it is not.

In October, after the official count has been done, the charter schools start purging students
The public schools in which most of the student body is on free lunch, schools wait until after they have to submit their report on how many free lunch students they have, to expel the bad ones.
As soon as they submit the report, they start getting rid of the problem kids.

Teacher/Student fricking is now a reality at University View Academy.

The social interaction of being in the classroom is way more important than any subject taught in modern schools. At least through high school.
No it isn't. The instilling of real values by parents who care is far more important.
Warehousing kids in stupidly narrow age bands stunts their social skills. If you were in a position to hire you'd know that.

Their model is probably the future of education. There's really not much of a need to be physically in classrooms anymore
You're stupid and wrong on multiple levels, from keeping a teenager's attention long enough to build the foundation for a career in science or engineering to the social development of children k-8th grade.

It is true in EBR, I have first hand knowledge. In October the Charter school students start showing up. The money is allocated from the October count.
You're a teacher in EBR?

I found out last week they had already taken over the former AAA on bennington. When did that happen?
