i jokingly pointed this out at the lit pizza in p'ville.

while the people may be 6ft or more behind each other, the line is U shaped with a railing about 2 inches in the middle.

I don't think I've ever seen anyone interacting at length while actually shopping. Especially when by themselves. After checking out, sure. But not while actually fetching groceries. Never saw more than a congenial "hey, how ya doin'? Fine! Hows your mome and them. Good, tell her I said hello".

apparently thats lethal. Who knew?

of course not. Because its all bullshite. No one exchanging casual pleasantries in a grocery aisle is going to kill you. But enjoy your paranoia of the big, bad, interactions.

Here is the deal. The virus doesn't leap from person to person like a damn flea. That is what people think and that is why they have the one way aisles. So you are mostly right, but...

It 100% does transmit via droplets and if you pass some dude in the aisle going the other way and he sneezes / coughs on you then you are fricked.

So the one way aisles make sense only because you can't trust people to not be nasty frickers. If everyone was cautious, we could stand inches apart and be fine.

Sounds like you should just go to Kroger and pick up a case of Corona.

I go the most direct route to what I’m grabbing. If I’m at the tail end of an isle and the thing I’m going to get is right there, I’m not walking all the way down another isle just to come back up the “correct” way.

frick yeah I’m selfish.

I can understand this, but i'd love to know the odds that you'll be passing someone just at the precise moment that person- who is infected no less- sneezes in your vicinity to infect you. especially given the fact that no one gets close to anyone anyway. Its stupid. It makes Karen feel good, and makes the store seem like they care about the customer, but its about as effective as closing the barber shop but leaving the comic book store open.

You seem awfully upset about having to walk a little further.

You a fatass?

I don't see how you haven't had a stroke worrying as much as you do. It has to absolutely suck to go through life worried about what everyone else is doing and how it may get you sick.

a good metaphor for why we as a society couldn't be trusted to handle this containment without hardcore interference

Not picking on you specifically, but that's the attitude that got us here.

Just got back from Publix. Mine had the arrows on the floor, but no one was paying them any mind and it wasn't enforced. Maybe it will be when it gets busy in the afternoon.

that sounds about right

I get that it's mostly just the business doing what it can to make their customers feel comfortable and safe, but shite, it makes sense given the guidelines we've all read about distancing.

I’m selfish. Most people are.

I’d think that being as quick as possible and limiting time in the store would be a good thing. Why take a minute to walk down another isle when I can take 5 steps, grab what I need, and be on my way?
