it's not section 8. but it was a questionable part of town about 5 years ago. it's gotten a lot better recently
did the robber with the AK-47 tell you to say this?

1. why is that?

- a door alarm/chime will do nothing...as someone has already noted, you will surely hear someone kicking in your door
- that flip door lock will do nothing to keep someone out. one good kick once you've gotten to that will be enough to get in

2. what would you suggest?
I would reinforce the door panel with a steel plate that bolts into a stud & put reinforced deadbolts. Assuming the door itself is strong enough, that's virtually impossible to kick in. Put extra long screws into the hinges also.
Now the windows are a different story.

I've seen the area improve

it's better than no alarm?

the alarm will alert everyone in the neighborhood as to what's going on. not to mention they could be using a quieter form of entry rather than kicking the door in. the alarm will alert people to that

it was a cheap obstacle I could add. it's now slightly harder to brake into than it was

yea I was planning on doing this. that flip door lock was more of a temporary fix that I could do last night. will fully fix it soon

yea I've gotta figure out something to do for the windows

My female tenant crawled out of the bedroom window and ran down the street in her sports bra and panties yelling for help. I live not far away so she came and pounded on my door.

however she's a stripper at one of the local clubs. shouldn't be too hard to see the goods without needing a picture.

You don't screen your potential tenants do you?

You can try to get the state attorney to ask the judge to order restitution in the criminal case. At least that's what you can do in FL. It's easier than suing them and getting a civil judgment.

I do to an extent

I knew she was a stripper before moving in. I know the guy who's the manager of the club where she works and he vouched for her. He actually used to live in the property where she's living now. He would have some of the girls over and I never had any issues. The girl and the guy living there now have been nice and quite thus far. Plus they've kept their word on when they were going to meet me and get me the money.

Were drugs involved? Do your tenants deal and these guys knew they would have cash and drugs? Sounds a little fishy that they tried once and came back. At my house they would have been dead on the front porch the 1st time no need for a 2nd visit. Suck it up and replace the doors and get down the road. It's good that the guys had a connection to your tenant and it wasn't random, easier to explain to new tenants

I haven't read all of the responses but it's safe to say your tenants are likely involved in some shady dealings. If the perps wanted in that bad there was a reason.

There was $400 sitting on the counter? I'm not saying your tenants are drug dealers, but your tenants are drug dealers.
