More places doing takeout have embraced tech and online ordering which makes the process much easier and lessens the possibility of a screwup. I also like being able to prepay and just grab and go.

I noticed this a few weeks ago. I love that Waitr has expanded their delivery radius to include basically any and all restaurants in BR (That are using Waitr)
Only thing about Waitr is that i wish you had the option to tip AFTER the food was delivered.

I don't know if they'll stay, but I've enjoyed the "family meals" option in to go orders that most places have adopted.

Superior did a Fajitas for 4 that was an incredible deal including chips and queso.

Good point. That Thai restaurant down the street was finally forced into switching to an online order site that actually works. A lot of local type restaurants have joined 2020 finally.

I don’t know what ramifications this has on history/society, but it should be noted.
The divide between generations could not be more clearly demarcated than by this one simple preference.
I hate restaurants that force me to order on-line. It seems like it’s adding another unnecessary link in the chain. One where technical glitches are common.
I always think, let me just call the person at the restaurant. If it’s a place I go to often, I might actually know them by name. I can just tell them what I want, and they can write it down in whatever way works best for them so that it’s most likely to be correct.
I guess it comes down to this: I trust verbal communications and distrust computer user efficiency, whereas the generation after me, who grew up with computers, trusts computers more than verbal communications.

I’m right and you’re wrong. Ordering online takes two minutes and there’s no chance you get put on hold or they mishear your order, and it takes your payment.

How do you know someone saw your order?
How do you know how busy the restaurant is?
How would you know if they were out of something?
What if the WiFi was down, or slow?
What if they are out of printer paper and your order didn’t print like it’s supposed to?

None of this has ever been a problem. And they call you if they’re out of something.

Agreed. There is so much less room for error when an order is placed in writing than when you have some dimwit taking your order on the phone while trying to multitask.

The last time I ordered a pizza online it took 1:15, before I called them to inquire. They said they were sorry but were in fact very busy. I ended up driving there and picking up the pizza myself instead of waiting on the overworked driver.
If I had called to order in the first place, they could have told me that on the phone.

I like curbside takeout. If they will walk the food to my car I am way more likely to order to go than if I have to stand in line and wait to pick up.
