Stop bickering. People's homes are at stake and are coming here for information. You're watering down potentially useful information.

I'm not bickering. My company has a vested interest in OA. Sorry if I come off that way, but I'm merely inquiring.

Speaking of subdivision people...big shout out to the folks in Oaks on the Bluff. We started off with 10 people sandbagging and by noon we had 30+ people helping. Folks from Oaks on the Bluff came over in droves and started helping us. It was an awesome feeling having complete strangers show up and start chipping in. Because of their assistance, we have two houses that are still dry that otherwise would not be.

I don't want to steal your thunder, but Manchac @ AB is finally below 14' this morning. This is a good step toward relief as the level begins to trend down at better rate.

Bluff swamp still hanging tough around 13' and we need manchac to get below that. Im guessing that will happen around Tuesday????

ETA: I just realized that the bluff swamp gauge doesn't give a datum offset to zero for some reason, so that 13' does not necessarily correlate to 13' of elevation.

Latest report from the ridge: no change.

I always thought most gauge's readings were localized to that location and are not tied to sea level or any common measure.

i.e. Way back when a bayou crossing was dry, someone stuck a painted marking stick at that point and 0 was at the bottom. 10' meant the water was 10' deep at that point.

Any word on when they will start pumps? manchac must be lower than the road or very close to dropping below.

That's correct, but when you see a chart that references NAVD 1988 or NAVD 1927, that is giving you the elevation above "sea level"

The 3rd chart on This page is showing you that. It just so happens that for this gauge, 0 on the gauge is 0' elevation.
