I would like to thank everyone who contributed to this thread. It's been a long battle for everyone and I hope this thread was able to help those in the affected area. I honestly almost didn't start this thread because I didn't think anyone would give a shite. The news was pissing me off with the lack of info and low and behold you Magnificent Sons A Bitches provided me with all I needed to know plus help other people in the area. Still a long way to go, but just wanted to say Thank yall so much!

Sappy personal shite [on] off
I'm an original to this area. My family has been here forever and at one point or another owned all of it.
I've spent my whole life having a strong dislike for all of the subdivision people. Y'all had ruined it for me. Mine would be the first generation that didn't get 15 acres of free family land for me to build my house on and put my first 10 cows on. I came out of college with nothing but debt. I had to buy a house in a subdivision in st amant because the land my family used to own was now $90k an acre.
Yall will never get the credit you deserve for helping through all of this. I saw countless people filling sandbags in the middle of school parking lots and subdivision streets out of nothing but a desire to help. People handing out water, cooking food, etc. all while sweating to death and many who themselves had water in their houses.
The "subdivision people" I met his week very much humbled me with their kindness. They didn't have to help, and we wouldnt have asked them too. But, they saved me from going to the hospital for heat stroke.
Y'all don't know the history like I do. Y'all don't know that pawpaw Leonard plowed all of that dirt behind a scrawny jackass in the 40's. Some of y'all can't tie a sandbag worth a damn. But, I have met nothing but good people throughout all of this from different states and backgrounds.
This whole event strikes a very deep, personal nerve with me. My whole family history is under that nasty water in bluff swamp.

Speaking of sandbags. I asked on here earlier if there was any use for them back there when all the nervous nancies over here started asking "what do we do with all these sandbags". Didn't know if there was any way to get them there anymore?

You can't get them to the back any way other than boat.
I'm going to the back in a boat tomorrow for a pump shift. Haven't been all the way back there since last Saturday. Hard to believe it's been a full week of bagging houses and watching the water rise.
Send them to lutcher. Those boys need all the help they can get now.

Well, I'm a half subdivision person as well.
I hate it, and I'm working to change it. This week really brought me back to my roots. I've seen more family in the past 7 days than I've seen in the past year.

Well said brother. I understand your perspective. Not sure if we know each other but I know our families know each other.
