4' on the ridge is not usable information. What elevation do they expect the water to reach in bluff swamp? I have not seen that information from a reliable source yet and that's what everyone needs to know.

You're about a foot higher than the houses at the front of ridge, which are slightly over 12'.
At the current rate you'll have 12 hours before you get water in your house after it hits the ones at the front of ridge.
ETA: my only credentials are that I have lots of family on ridge and all over prairieville and they've all been here a very long time. I'm making educated guesses here and I would prefer nobody make a life or death decision based on this. If you have a doubt or your are scared/worried, bail.

My wife's uncle is now evacuating - he lives off Alligator Bayou Road. Has never evacuated before and has been there for 40 plus years.
So ...

Here come some pics. I don't know if the road is going to hold honestly

Was just in there talking to my parents and a state trooper who lives in there as well. Hes telling everybody to be very concerned.
My parents live in the front near main entrance

They have numerous parish workers on this road. They are saying increased flooding in the next 6-8 hours and possibly 4 foot of water in the next 24-36. Straight from the horses mouth.

what is the elevation of the floor of your house?
I have about 2 foot to go before it gets inside. It just reached my back yard. It's definitely starting to pick up

If that's accurate than its time to go unless you have the sandbag berm of the century. 4 more feet from current level will be about 30 inches over ridge road.

Lol I understand. Have the bay boat tied to the back porch in case Alligator Bayou breaks.

Hey skuter. We're good over on this side. No threat of flooding. Hope everything works out well for you, but if not and you need anything just holler.

Thx Mike, we have been blessed so far

Good idea. I watched a guy run a 20' bay boat across my front yard in st amant earlier today.
4' over current level is gonna suck. I hope that's inaccurate.

We've evacuated from Beehive Dr. on Bayou Paul Rd. I figured if we are going to play the waiting game we might as well be safe. Praying that Manchac Rd holds.
Eta: I heard that they've had Hunt prisoners working almost constantly time trying to reinforce the road.

What's the plate of rocks for?
Posted on 8/15/16 at 4:54 pm to lsu mike
Marker, my house is up the road from there

Hopefully this event encourages the parish to put in pumps to pump bayou manchac and bluff swamp into the Mississippi River.

If the road/levee fails, will most of that water flow south into Spanish Lake and swamp area?
