1. It would be a 0, but if I did get it, it would be miserable.

But it's not even out of control in West Africa, so we will handle it fine.

And right now ~10.

Enough to watch it closely.

I'm not worried about but if people start getting sick and dying in large numbers then that's when the country shuts down.

Enterovirus has sickened hundreds and killed four in the latest outbreak. Nobody's panicking over that.

Enterovirus doesn't sound as scary as "EBOLA!"

Maybe if it was "venom virus!" Or something

Neither is Ebola on average. So much misinformation.

quote:

The average EVD case fatality rate is around 50%. Case fatality rates have varied from 25% to 90% in past outbreaks.

I'm probably in the 50s.

I mean, Nigeria is at 20 cases right now (unless they're lying), so there is a successful template right there - and people can use ground transportation to get from other infected African countries into Nigeria.

On the other hand, you never really know how a powerful viral infection is going to behave in the wild. We didn't have it before - now we do.

The U.S. has the first confirmed case of Ebola outside Africa, ever.

Think about that - not Asia or Europe which are right there, but the U.S.

And make no mistake, he got on a plane and got here because he knew or strongly suspected he was infected and wanted to be treated here. Depending on how we react to this, expect a whole bunch more in the coming months.

It's a death sentence, so what do they have to lose by trying? I mean, I would. So, if we don't suspend travel until the outbreak is under control in Africa, I fully expect dozens of new Ebola tourists over the coming months...

Just as we head into the seasonal Flu months.

I'm at a cautious 35.

I believe that this will all be taken care of, but the potential is enough to have me worried.

This guy in dallas doesn't scare me nearly as much as the idea of something like that happening in mexico city or hong kong. Could you imagine how fast it would spread in hong kong considering the population density and current state of unrest??
