On 3rd DWI in a year, Olivia Matte (26) kills a man

General Manager of the Causeway Commission Carlton Dufrechou said two vehicles, a small white car, driven by Olivia Matte, 26, and a red pickup truck carrying the two victims, were traveling southbound near mile marker three around 2:30 a.m. Matte hit the red pickup from behind. The impact caused the red pickup truck to hit the guard rail, damaging nearly 100 feet. Blackmond died at the scene after a pipe from the guardrail went through the windshield of the truck. Dufrechou said officials believe the driver of the white vehicle was intoxicated at the time of the accident. It would be her third DWI in the past year. Matte is being held without bond in Jefferson Parish jail.
