$6300 and it come with a textured rubber band? frick that.

While I always recommend buying a watch with the bracelet initially, the OEM Omega rubber straps are incredibly comfortable and make the watch wear differently. The first one I tried was on a 42mm Seamaster PO and instantly fell in love with the feel. The aftermarket versions can be nice from the better brands but the OEM Omegas ones are a different level compared to the cheaper ones but their price tag in a vacuum is ridiculous.

IDK why quick change systems like on some JLC models hasn't become commonsplace. A "strap monster" is one in name only if you never change the strap.

He should have his US citizenship REVOKED at once

from a business and financial decision, Mondo made the right choice. He will make 10'xs more $$$$ representing Sweden vs. the USA. He's already the most famous athlete from Sweden ever. More famous than Annika Sörenstam, Bjorg Borg, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Alexander Gustafsson .... Track & Field is the second most supported and attended sport in Europe behind soccer. Europeans love Mondo which increases his fame and fortune. Americans prefer to watch and support the NFL, NBA, MLB athletes.

Sweden gave him an automatic bid. In the US he would have had to go through the Olympic trials. Plus he's one of, if not the most famous person in Sweden. In America he's some guy who runs track.

Not exactly. It's true in Sweden you don't have to place top 3 in a single meet to make the team but rather its based on your overall season. Mondo's Dad was a world class vaulter back in the 80's and went over 19' but although he was ranked top 3 in the US a few times never made an Olympic team. Back then, at age 15, no one knew Mondo would be as great as he is so a better chance to be an Olympian, unlike his Dad, went into the decision. Also, Sweden allowed Mondo to compete on their national Under20 teams in international competition at 15-16 years old whereas the US T&F has restrictions on athletes that young. Finally, Sweden gave him a training $tipend while the US wasn't going to do that.

You 100% can.

If I was in Mondo’s shoes I’d make the same decision 100 times out of 100 (provided I’m not representing a crap hole country). Dude has to think about his financial security. Here in the states even the top cats in track aren’t touching what mondo is getting there. It’s easy to say that he sucks and is a traitor or whatever when you’re looking at this through a basketball/football/whatever other sport we as Americans are crazy about lense. The unfortunate fact is mondo put himself in the best position to make sure he was financially stable for the long haul and wouldn’t have to live with the “what ifs” his dad probably has to carry around.

Also we’re talking about competing in the pole vault for Sweden not choosing to fight for china in a war against the states.

Can you educate me on why he's competing for Sweden instead of the US? Besides having dual citizenship because of his mom?
multi faceted

A) he’s more marketable in Europe than here. If he was doing what he was doing competing for the US he would be just another guy. Look at Ryan crouser. One of, if not the best throwers ever that’s still competing and I can promise less than a quarter of the us population has ever heard his name. Not the case for mondo in Sweden/europe.

B) easier path to the Olympics. In the states he can dominate everyone for four years but be sick on trials day or something and still miss the Olympics because of one bad day. Doesn’t have to worry about that in Sweden.

C) Overall support. You’re pretty much on your own in terms of support the USATF will give you here. You’re paying your coaches or relying on sponsors to pay them, paying your own travel costs (with the exception of worlds/olympics), etc. Not the case in Sweden. They may not be covering everything for him there but they’re covering enough.

I get the sentiment of not liking that he’s not competing for the US but the ire needs to be directed to the USOC/USATF for not taking care of our top athletes.

Keely Hodgkinson of GB wearing a titanium Aqua Terra in her race. Also seen on the arms of Dutch athletes.
