OLOL Family Practice Associates - Baton Rouge

Any of y'all go there? I've been going for about 10 years and have seen Dr. Brignac and Dr. Chamberlain and some of the others. Several of them are leaving to open different practices that are supposed to offer more attention to patients and easier appointment access. I was looking into it but it's like $1,600 a year to join these clinics. Is this going to be seen at a larger scale eventually?

Yep. Good doctors that patients like will do this more and more.
Busting your arse in clinic seeing 30 patients a day for 100k a year isnt gonna cut it. Can barely pay off med school loans with that.
Expect more PAs, NPs and foreigners at your next clinic visit

Yeah I think my doctor already left too. But now I can't find any information online.

You don't need a doctor. Just tape an aspirin to whatever hurts and quit being a pussy.

When I still lived in Baton Rouge, my doctor at OLOL Family Practice went to high school with my dad. Great doctor, but he commented in recent years that the restrictions placed on private practices by Obamacare were making his way of life harder.

Yes he is. Shouldve gotten a message about what he was doing.
I typically saw Dr Barber over there and every once in a while I would see Chamberlain. I liked both.

Ask yourself this....
If your PCP always offered good care, was accessible and easy to communicate with, had availability (if not with with them at least an NP or PA), etc then why would you need to pay for more. If they didn't offer those things then what makes you think they would when you paid more for it and why where you with them in the first place.
When someone's revenue is driven by how many office visits they have a day and their employer supports as many visits as
Possible it makes sense that someone would want to see less patients. BUT, that physician now has to make up that revenue somehow. Maybe the service will be worth it down the road but until their services prove better outcomes for their patients, is avoid it. More access doesn't mean anything if there isn't better outcomes.
There are PLENTY of good PCPs out there with access and there is NO NEED to pay for these concierge services.
If all you're used to is your healthcare being delivered by groups and big box stores (OLOL and Walgreens) or Ochsner and CVS) try looking into a smaller community PCP and a local pharmacy. The differences can be astounding.

MD VIP is a pretty solid concept. Had a doc with one but was healthy enough not to want to pay it for now. Medicine needs to be about wellness not treating acute sinusitis and coughs. The good ones should be allowed to treat a smaller group of patients and help improve those outcomes. For $125 a month for the right MD that is pretty cheap honestly.
