My great grandmother used witch hazel for every ailment known. Rash, itch, ear ache, sore throat. It felt like she had a bottle in every room.
She was a sweet soul who thought I was her oldest son and my mom told me just play along and not upset her.

That would just prolong the hangover. It's already 2 days as is. I don't need a longer one.

It's not a perfect solution. How good are you with an IV and fluids?

You're lucky. I thought my momma was putting shoe polish on my tongue the first time she pulled that little dauber thingy out of the bottle - until I saw the crap in it was purple.

Ughhh... yes. That and Kaopectate back when it was made out of clay and tasted absolutely horrible and left your mouth feeling all chalky.

A neti pot works better than antibiotics

My Paw Paw swore by this one.
Other's:
- If you stepped on a rusty nail, soak your foot in coal oil and you won't get tetanus.
- Whiskey, lemon juice, and honey for a cough.
- a double shot of whiskey each night will speed up getting over a cold
- put apple cider vinegar on a piece of cotton and tape it over a wart to get rid of it

Best rheumatiz medicine around

Opium (laudanum)(sp?) was available OTC. It was a first line treatment for everything. Or “Grains of morphia”.
I collect antique medical texts. It’s very interesting. To me. Lol.
Mustard Plasters were used for everything too. Applied to the bottom of the feet.

Back in the parish we didn't practice that hoo-doo. We just called the traiteur to come put the hands on us.

People scoff, but I've seen this work. Whether it is divine or psychosomatic, or other, I have seen this work.
