After being fingered by Texas for-profit prison entrepreneur Patrick Graham, who allegedly gave him $845,000 in conjunction with a scheme to locate a private juvenile prison in Jena in La Salle Parish.

I enjoy going and am glad LA has these venues.

They also seem to be employing a shite ton of locals.

Didn't Roemer approve the gaming legislation?

Think about all of the legitimate businesses that passed up Louisiana bc they wouldn't pay off Edwards like the casinos and countless others did? We will never get those businesses here. We can't turn back the clock.

New Orleans used to be the petrochemical headquarters of the country. When the poloticians started putting their hands in everyones pockets, all of the companies relocated to Houston. We have just recently become appealing to large companies again.

This

Analogy time here:

If one rat gets into your full silo of food grade grain, it's not the value of the grain that is eaten that you lose. You lose all of the grain because the rat shits there. You then have to throw out all the silo's content and clean the silo's surfaces.

EWE always claims (probably correctly) that he never took one dime from the citizens of Louisiana. In the strictest sense of the statement that's true. Far more damaging than that type of theft, he stole their future opportunities and those for their kids and grand kids, etc. by scaring away legitimate businesses from investing in Louisiana. Would that he'd just have stolen State monies instead.

I pray that he doesn't win his Congressional race in November. As if the rest of the country doesn't laugh at Louisiana enough.

not glorifying or condoning anything he did, but I was around him a lot during his hay days, and he is one charismatic, smart, son of a bitch, I know he banged at least half of the LSU law students while I was at LSU, and he was brazen as hell about it

Around 1970-72 when EWE was a congressman, he was screwing around with a high school girl in Crowley, and the girls dad found out about it. The dad owned a car dealership and had a women that worked for him arrange a meet with EWE at a motel in Jennings, not an unusual occurrence for Edwards. Instead of the women three mechanics from the car dealership were waiting for Edwards and almost beat him to death. He was taken to a hospital in Beaumont and admitted under an assumed name where he stayed until he recovered. One of my closest friend's dad was one of the mechanics.

So who was worse?

Dave Treen
Buddy Roemer
Kathleen Blanco
Mike Foster
Bobby Jindal
EWE

I'd take EWE over the lot of them.

Edwards life in his 30s,40s. was Animal House on steroids, I could tell a lot more, but one guy already wrote a book about some of it and was later shot dead.
