Galaga. Pizza Hut was a nice treat. Hanging out at the mall before going to the movie. And of course, I do miss bush.

No cell phone or internet. You had to have patience when trying to get in touch with someone. If you wanted to meet up with your friends you had to call their house from your house. Or just know where to ride your bike to. We could play outside, unsupervised all day but had to be home before the dark.

Brings back good memories. They had a great to me fishing section. I’d spend my time looking at all the stuff I couldn’t buy while mom shopped . She’d usually let me get an icee on the way out from the snack bar.

Newspapers

The demise of local newspapers is, in my opinion, a leading cause of the political rift in the US today. No matter how liberal or conservative your local paper was odds were pretty good that you would be exposed to an idea that did not confirm your bias if you read it long enough...and if you paid for it you were going to read it. We don't even have to go out of way for confirmation bias any longer...the algorithm feeds it for us with no opposing voice ever being heard.

Local papers were also the only thing keeping local leaders remotely honest...the thought of their face being on the front page of the local paper in a scandal kept some of them in line...you almost have to be in person at town council and the like meetings now to know what the bastards are up to....

I miss being able to do stupid shite and it not being on every phone throughout the school within minutes. Life was better when the only computer in the house was a 60 lb beast connected to dial up and cell phones were for emergency use only. I feel sorry for my teenage children while in some ways they have it easier they definitely got the short end of the social stick.
