The 5.0 is the last motor being offered that I want. Unfortunately the F150 have tons of problems with everything else on the truck.
The 5.0 in the f150 now has an oil bathed kevlar belt running the oil pump. Not a chain. It also has cylinder deactivation. No, you don't in fact want this engine either.
The government is actively ruining reliability and longevity in gas burning cars. This is not by accident.

Still can’t wrap my mind around the fact that the Land Cruiser was brought back with a 4 cylinder engine.

There are no free lunches when it comes to power and displacement.
Your Tundra will NOT last as long as the V8 model.

That’s the first. You should take it to GM for study if your truthful. The cast aluminum oil pan.

Don't blame the manufacturers. Blame the frick head EPA figs for forcing unneeded emissions requirements. The tried and true engines can't meet the bull shite regs set by the pinko commie EPA figs.
It's a money grab for them. If they truly cared about the environment, they would understand that having to build entirely new engines and cars for someone ever 5 years is a LOT more taxing on the environment than the little bit higher of emission that the reliable car lets out.

Check back in in 15 years with 300k on it. The 2nd gen Tundra's routinely made that with no issues at all.

It’s not that simple. Toyota was forced into making the move to improve emissions, etc.
Correct. 5.7 is great for reliability, but she drinks. The EPA mandating certain MPG by a fleet killed them.

Tundras USP was their reliability. Fit, finish, looks, tech, etc. they get spanked. No idea why anyone would drive a new Tundra. Much better options out there now. They don’t really do anything well.

It's a shame, Toyota/Lexus especially. That was my brand for 20 years.
Same here. It really is a shame. I will not own a hybrid or a battery powered car. Caveat….would own battery powered if the recharge time comes into the realm of gasoline refueling. Also, range has to be increased and battery size decreased.
Save that….it’s INTERNAL COMBUSTION for me.
Hello Honda !

You can still find ‘21 Tundras with lowish miles for sale now but damn….that MPG.
Also you’ll pay out the nose depending on finishes.

The 5.3 is anemic.
It’s not the most exciting engine but plenty enough power for most people. 350hp was unheard of in a pickup until not that long ago.

I thought it was the MPG. I know the Trundras have some expensive arse cat converters and I thought that mostly took care of the emissions side but I’m not sure.

IIC the GXs and Tundras with the V8 we’re around 14 to 19 MPG. And the GX requires premium.
I’ve been thinking of grabbing a 22 GX but that’s the only thing that’s held me back…and they’re still too expensive.

That's what the cash for clunkers then the Obama Epa restrictions were for. Then we all started to get 6, then 8, and then 10 speed transmissions and auto start stop and afm etc. Now we have a bunch 4 & 6 cylinder trucks and hot garbage that starts at 40+k$. It was never really about improvement.

I have been very happy with my GMC 6.2L and then this past week I received a recall notice. Due to manufacturing defects some engines crank shaft and connecting rods could fail. Jeez GM.

Wife loves her 1996 Z71 truck with that motor - 440k miles on the truck. It burns no oil, runs cool when it is hot, and is very reliable.

They should just make battery cars from now on.
