Oh, you’re right.

The oil companies just got together and decided on that price.

No other outside factors.

Why don’t they just do that now? They could declare that each barrel is worth $100!

Nobody “likes” that. But sometimes what is good for me personally is bad for the whole. I’d rather pay a little more for products so that hard working Americans are able to keep their jobs and investment portfolios aren’t trashed.
