I started in 97, haven't missed a day of work..I pray to Sweet Baby Jesus every night.
Find a different field to go into, current market conditions are horrible.

I have a ton of friends in the profession. The majority got laid off when the price of oil dropped months back.
One landman buddy retained his job but that was because he kind of worked himself into a project manager role. He was recently working 16 hour days since they had work but weren't hiring anyone.

when did this become the gold standard for oilfield stereotypes? I've been working in the industry since '06, in Broussard- pretty much the heart of the field. I guarantee you you will see more "lifted F250s" in EBR/ASC/LP/WBR/Ibberville than I see in the greater Laffy regional area.
really tee? you work in broussard and havent passed in front of dons wholesale on hwy 90? Id bet there are 50 f-250's for sale there. its definitely like 95% of the stock there.

Best job in the world when the market is hot, but you better have a backup for when it all goes belly up like right now. Getting into land is a terrible idea like everyone else just told you.
