The other thread about the Civic Groups reminded me to research local Oil and Gas organizations here in Lafayette. My main goal is to network. So other than the Petroleum Club, are there any organizations the Rant would recommend?

Society of petrophysicists and well log analysts
Society of petroleum engineers
American petroleum institute
Lafayette geophysical society
Southwest La geophysical society

All of those meet at the petroleum club.

I work in Oil Field transportation / sales. We handle hot-shots all the way to large permitted heavy haul loads. No crew transportation, equipment only.. I'm new in transportation which is why I'm looking for network groups / clubs.

The bible thumpers in broussard have been after Michael's for years now. I am sure someone there will frick it up and get the place closed down.

Find some skeet shoots
Fishing Rodeos
Golf Tournaments

Set up a tent at these events and cook and pass out beer. You will meet everyone that you'd ever possibly want to do business with.

Good advice. The more boudin, greasy cracklins and Meche's donuts you bring to T Boy Boudreaux in the morning, the more he will want to do business with you
