NEW ORLEANS - Sick, "erratic" raccoons are roaming in New Orleans' City Park, and Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries say these animals can be deadly to pets.
“Over the last several months, we started getting reports of people physically seeing raccoons acting erratic,” City Park COO Robert DeVeney told WWL. “We started witnessing it. We brought in Wildlife and Fisheries to help us understand what was going on.”
The animals are infected with canine distemper, according to LWF. It's a virus that can make raccoons act like zombies and can be deadly to dogs.

Though the infected raccoons are not dangerous to humans, officials say they pose a threat to dogs and cats.

1. frickin New Orleans, man
2. Why do they have to say that they're not dangerous to humans? Who the frick is walking up to a damn raccoon and touching it? Other than my soon-to-be-fricked-up-by-a-raccoon father in law?

You can write it off if these raccoons are only being seen spiritually or emotionally. But if people are physically seeing them then something needs to be done.

It's either distemper or rabies. Why is this an article? It happens all the time. Someone was just looking for a story and decided this was a thing today.

Man, these fricks never miss a chance to scare and or try to control people.

We had this a long time ago in Ocean Springs, MS. I am pretty sure it was rabies. The bastards were stumbling all around the town in the middle of the day. But if they are saying this New Orleans situation isn't harmful to people then maybe its not rabies.

You'd be shocked at the amount of people who see a raccoon and think "Does somebody need a hug?"

People who have no idea about wildlife.
The coyotes uptown are getting worse, and there are people defending the coyote's right to live there and threatening anyone who attempts to harm the coyotes.
Clowns.
