Here’s me with Bob Backlund. First live card I ever attended had Backlund defending against Jimm Snuka in the main event. Super-nice guy.

I almost wish it wasn't in New Orleans this year. So much cool stuff to do but I need to save money. Gonna watch Impact vs Lucha tonight on twitch at least.

I really got into wrestling in 94 when Backlund had returned and was a psycho heel. Really entertaining and a complete opposite of his boring Howdy Doody persona during his WWE title reign days.

I did some work with WWE a few years ago and got to be pretty good friends with a few of their crew guys. I told one of them the story of how my youngest son and daughter reacted to the news of Daniel Bryan being cleared... it was a magical moment...
Said buddy texted me and said he told the story to DBry and to text him when I'm in New Orleans, that Dbry wants to say hello to me and the kids if we can work out a good time.
ETA...Story, I picked my kids up from aftercare at their school. As we are walking to the car I tell them Daniel Bryan can wrestle again. My son drops all his stuff falls to his knees and starts sobbing. My daughter starts a yes chant. My son joins in. Two of the college aged and a few other kids run over to us and join in too. After it dies down one of the volunteers asks why we are doing this and my son yells "Because Daniel Bryan is back." Really a surreal moment of pure joy.
