Couple issues I picked up quickly with that letter
1) title in Vietnamese but content in English
2) well of course I was wrong about it heading west
3) why no news reports on this
4) doesn't explain the turned off transponder
5) terrorist wouldn't take it this off course I wouldn't think.
6) if the plane caught fire and crashed why would there be no distress signal.

My purely hypothetical scenario - hijackers attempt to take the plane - and let's say their motives are undetermined - in the post-9/11 era - people are more ready to fight, and the flight crews are more likely to resist. Perhaps the terrorists have an explosive as an enforcement mechanism and the crew/passengers call their bluff. *BOOM* - at 30k, if the plane remained intact, but on fire, particularly if the crew retained partial control and power to at least 1 engine, it could travel a long, long way before crashing.
Purely hypothetical.
