Chicken - there are various sensors on the overhead, non-airbreathing platforms. Some look at the electronic spectrum, some infrared, some visual.
There is a ton of data, there. But analyzing it - in a retrospective fashion is tough - capturing a moment in time or a period of time in the past can be tough - much tougher than knowing what to look for in advance and placing a platform in a position to conduct surveillance over a specific area at a specific time.
It is even possible that Western assets do not have sufficient coverage. It is a big world.
The other problem comes with resolution - some things we're really good at capturing (missle plumes) - because we've engineered the equipment to look for that.
Other things - (visible spectrum at night) - we're much better than we used to be with passive thermal, computer based image enhancement, etc. - the issue we will have is what sensors were watching the area and during what time windows.

new angle. The copilot was paid to give the pilot tainted food.
The pilot goes to the lavatory and is locked in.
the copilot takes the plane below 14,000 feet.
a person on board who has been planted, goes into the storage area and pulls out 24 parachutes.
The copilot disables all radio and data recording and sets the plane to continue out into the Indian ocean.
The co-pilot and his colleagues take the scientists and bail out to a waiting Submarine below. the plane continues on a doomed flight plane and then crashes.
When found the missing will be assumed dead as like 70 of the dead from Air France were never found.
Russia using information gained from Snowden now has the people he needs for the EMP bomb to take out the US.

That is literally the response I keep seeing all over the place, not just reddit but other sites where lefties like to congregate. And as the week has dragged on and the possibility of being a terrorist act or hijacking is more plausible, the denial of this being a terrorist attack becomes stronger and stronger
I don't see what is so far fetched about this being perhaps a hijacking or terrorism. The denial is strong with them

There are people who still believe that plane landed safely and the people are being held hostage. There were weird things like messages left by passengers long after the crash.
Initial reports were the plane landed safely.

I was stationed at Elmendorf AFB, AK at the time and THAT plane landed on our runway. It wasn't that uncommon for commercial planes to land at Elmendorf when the downtown airport got fogged in.

Can we assume India would have shot this thing down had it come into their airspace? That just about rules out Pakistan as a destination.
Does Myanmar (not the discount pharmacy) have strong air defense systems?
Really surprised that we haven't heard much more about the backgrounds of the two pilots.
