FYI. Federal Search Warrants have an allowable time for service unless it is written as an "any time" warrant. Normal warrants can't be served before 6 AM. I forget what time of night the window closes. 10 PM I think.

Multiple agency search warrant it was done at 6 am on the dot.

Not just to surprise the suspect, but the entire neighborhood. These guys have lookouts and everything, you don't want to roll in around noon when the whole neighborhood is outside and start a gunfight. Granted you ended up with one anyway, but it could have been much worse.

And, my understanding is that, HIPAA only protects PERSONALLY IDENTIFIABLE INFORMATION from disclosure. The fact that someone died isn't protected. The name of the person and their particular injuries are protected.

I just talked to a JPSO deputy and he said the officer is still in surgery.

Here's what we know:
- JPSO Deputy was part of DEA Task Force
- Task force was serving search warrant for narcotics operation
- Location: 5300 block of Douglas Street, Holy Cross
- Male suspect fired at officers, agents
- A JPSO deputy was hit multiple times, transported to hospital
- 1 suspect in custody, 2 detained for questioning
- JPSO Deputy was part of DEA Task Force
- Task force was serving search warrant for narcotics operation
