Back when they just fricking washed your dishes and were simple machines, they worked fine. Now with all the bullshite energy and water saving features (inevitably computer driven) they are just worthless.

Just got back from Lowes . they have an insane clearance discount for stove/oven combinations. 40-50 %. New in box.

I’m fixing a GE dishwasher tonight. Found out the heating element went out and got a new one on Amazon for $35. Will probably take me an hour to install the new one (you have to unhook everything and pull the dishwasher out). Much better than spending $500+ on a new piece of shite with too many features.

$50 and a YouTube video and you can fix most of these shitty appliances. At least that’s what I’ve observed my wife doing.

They're all shite. I figured that out in a thread here a while back where person after person said they have to pretty much wash the dishes before putting them in the dishwasher.

What most people have is a dish rinser.

Picked up an over the stove microwave/vent at Lowe’s this week.

209 dollars regular price was 429. It is stainless steel and large capacity. I just wish it was smaller. This thing looks huge compared to my stove.

I couldn’t beat the price and I am replacing my counter top microwave to gain some counter space. I popped a bag of popcorn and it uses the vent when microwaving so no popcorn smell waffling through the house when cooking in it.

My aunt replaced a 27 year old window unit air conditioner with a new GE window unit with all digital controls. It crapped out in less than two years. I really didn't want to pull it out and replace it again, so I traced the issue down to the control panel. GE wanted $270 some odd dollars for it. I found it from a supply house for $78 plus shipping. It looked exactly the same. I replaced it by myself without having to pull the unit all the way out.

We will see how long it lasts.

My parents bought a refrigerator before I was born, my brother has it in his bbq house working like it always has.

The companies are greedy as frick. Im all for making as much money as possible, but not this way. Selling people less quality shite for the same price (or more).

A friend of mine bought a new house awhile back and bought a new refrigerator. He got the warranty. It went out and he called and since it was covered under warranty they sent someone they contracted out, to his house. He said it was obvious they contracted the cheapest person they could find, but evidently it was a part not covered or some shite and it would have cost him $200 less than what they bought it for so he just went ahead and bought a new one.

They are not just trying to sell you shite, they are trying to milk every possible dollar they can out of you.

I have had success with Bosch for years. Dishwashers DO NOT have disposals built in them.

Bought a Bosch 4 years ago, no problems whatsoever

This. The Bosch has been excellent so far. 3 years in and love it. My parents are on year 20 of a whirlpool. Worth noting that their fridge and range are also whirlpool and still going strong after 2 decades.

In my experience, the clothes washer is the crappiest modern day household appliance. After buying the expensive one only to have it break down one day after the warranty expired, I now tell people to just go ahead and get the cheapest one in the store. Washers are a joke.

We have a very basic 1995 dishwasher with the pushbuttons just like all the apartments had back in the 90s. Very loud. But it cleans good and works. I will keep that thing until we die. I don't care how much maintenance I have to do on it in the future.

There isn’t much to a dishwasher.

Yep. Circulates the water, releases the detergent,. Far more efficient than washing in the sink.

Plus some have the "scald to death" mode (mine does, GE) and it's bound to be better than using the sink.

Just like cooking, get your dishes above a certain temperature and any bacteria or germs on the dishes are dead, grease melts easier at high temperatures and becomes emulsified in the water like a dispersant with the dishwashing detergent. Some detergents also use enzymes for cleaning stubborn food.
