So everyone invited to the wedding will be thinking this and feel obligated to go..

OK.

If they are there, they want to be. If they don't want to be, grow a set and don't go. Maybe people realize a wedding is slightly more important than a fricking football game.

I got engaged last September and I'm not getting married until next spring to avoid this exact clusterfrickery.

I appreciate that you're doing it on a bye week, so most people attending won't be upset about missing an lsu game. But as some have mentioned, good luck getting everything from venues to bands to flowers to caterers on that date - you'll be competing with a shite ton of other engaged couples for a limited number of each.

Ahhh, I rolled the dice in 2013 thinking I was picking a weekend we would play a cupcake. Ended up being the Georgia game. Zero fricks given. Just pick the best weekend for you and the misses.

Every wedding my dad, brother, or husband has attended during football season they are watching and/or listening to a game most or all of the ceremony. And I don't blame them.

October wedding...

Don't do it.

The final weekend in October has been the bye week since 2010. Decent gamble thinking it's the same in 17?

Yes, most likely the same in 2017, which I'll repeat since half* the thread seems to think you're talking about this year.

Or, if you insist on the fall, do your wedding on a Friday evening. There's no rule saying that it has to be on a Saturday.

*half was an exaggeration, but I saw it more than once.

Oh yea, make people miss work and have to travel during the work week just so some people don't miss a precious football game. Great idea.

Good luck. Venues usually book up for that week a year in advance.

I've seen it done several times before a home game, always seemed to have a good crowd and plenty of people having fun. If the OP is that concerned about the football games, it's a good option. And again, it's all about what he and his wife want, not the rest of the people there.

This right here. It is about you and your bride. Wedding planning can be stressful enough. You aren't gonna please everyone no matter what you do(count on this). So make sure whatever choices you make please the both of you first and foremost.

The strangest thing to me is how on earth people can't get married from January - August. Just avoid September - December. You don't mess with football, hunting and Christmas.

Can say the same for gameday weddings. Friday weddings are a much bigger hassle on the actual family. If I'm choosing one, I'm choosing not inconveniencing the families involved. Friday weddings are terrible.

Bye Week is great, but expect 47 other weddings that your guests will be invited to as well.

This, and every other non-LSU function. Every church and school will have something going on, the Halloween parade, a festival at the state capital, State Fair, etc etc.

Perhaps not everyone has your priorities.

I think most people would rather take off early for a Friday fall wedding than miss a game for a Saturday wedding

Without knowing the families involved, how would you know? Dude didn't say anything about people traveling in from out of town, and if they are family, they can probably take an extra day. If that's really a problem for him and his wife's families, they can scratch the idea.

I'm going to disagree with you there. Especially if it has to be during football season and the bye weekend is booked.

I haven't met very many of them. And that still doesn't account for the massive inconvenience for families travelling in.

You seem to overemphasize the hassle of someone taking a day off work

Not everyone has great benefits like you and I do.

ETA: And do I really need to point out that so many here are overemphasizing a football game?
