What can we do to make America less fat? It's a drain on our society.

Outlaw fast food since it kills more people than guns every year.

Tie welfare income to key health data such as blood sugar and blood pressure. You don't manage it you don't get paid

That would cure over half of the cases of obesity

It would never happen, but don't allow food stamp recipients to buy shite food. Americans on food assistance are on the whole more overweight than those that are not.

This is never talked about in relation to the virus, but my pulmonologist who is one of the main ICU doctors in BR said an overwhelming majority of patients that due poorly are overweight.

An unfortunate side effect of freedom is that you're free to be as fat and slovenly as you desire. We're then tasked with carrying this burden (pun intended) as a society because human nature tells us we can't leave people to suffer

1st world countries are infected with an illness. I don’t believe any current treatment plans will work.

Like any other virus, we need to let it play out and kill the weak. The strong will regroup and do what it takes to get the world back to good times.

Should be much easier to prevent since it’s not communicable

Not saying that’s not true, but do you have data to support that?

It's a multilayered issue that really doesn't have an easy solution. It's not just poor folks either, so while adjustments to WIC benefits would help it wouldn't come close to solving the problem.

Until we address the cultural aspects of obesity, it won't work. Legitimate education early on, better quality food in schools, more programs promoting healthy living (especially within insurance companies/benefits), etc. And even more importantly, addressing nationally the largely sedentary lifestyles we live. We don't have the benefit of other countries where there's a focus on biking and walking to work (due to sheer proximity and availability of automobile transport) so we have to find a way to offset that.

First try an stop worrying about other people. If they want to die of the beedeez.....oh well. You shouldn't let other peoples appearance cloud your judgement on society. This is half the problem today. Everyone is worried about other peoples shite!!! Go do something productive like split some wood with an ax or something.
