I worked at Dillard’s 30 years ago while I was going to LSU with a Michael Landry. I wonder if it’s the same one.
It wouldn’t surprise me. He was a pretty smarmy character.

Isn't this the 2nd school that was doing this?
Other one was a school out of the Baltimore/D.C. area that was falsifying grades and graduating kids who didnt even show up for half of their high school career.

I know a bank executive who was a guest speaker at TM Landry last year. He said he was impressed that these kids knew about call and put options.
It’s nice to see that their questions and explanations were fabricated and rehearsed.

The kids probably did know about that kind of stuff. The story makes it obvious they learned random stuff on their own. There was no structure, so you could research put options and still not be able to spell worth a shite.

He preyed on his own people. He knew he could trick some of them into it by saying the typical race baiting tactics seen today.

Throw fundamentalist religion onto sociopathic tendencies and you get guys like this.

That is the worst story I've read in a long time. I think the idea is great, but the idea that man was selling them was a lie. Man, he really only cares about himself. I hope someone with real money opens a school with the intention of underpriv children getting into great colleges, but that Landry needs to be nowhere around the school. He's going to jail.

Will St. John’s is no type tier University. I went to a northeastern school which is always ranked as being one of the least diverse schools in the country racially. Many schools are dying to take under privilege black students if they just try

I just saw some story from last year of the head guy at Yale saying this Landry guy is either a genius or the world's biggest fraud...
Well I guess that question has been answered.

quote:Absolutely. If you go to school to be a welder, the instruction is geared towards passing a welding test. Same thing. The State determines "what's important to know" and our teachers rise to the occasion, many times over the course of their career cause the State reinvents the wheel every 5 yrs or so.
That's all alot of schools care about nowadays.

I wonder what is the real test scores of these kids

This is why students who do not have the grades to get into medical school in the states and go to med school in the Caribbean are shitty doctors for the most part. Those schools are USMLE prep schools, not real medical schools.

There are a few doctors who graduate from the Caribbean schools who become good doctors, but it isn't that common.

T.M. Landry has become a viral Cinderella story, a small school run by Michael Landry, a teacher and former salesman, and his wife, Ms. Landry, a nurse, whose predominantly black, working-class students have escaped the rural South for the nation’s most elite colleges.
See, when it is Trump voters, the media words it, "white, uneducated."
