You do realize most people here are white collar, right? How else are we able to post most of the day?

I will never understand why the OT always sides with management rather than the common man. This is not a political statement at all - I’ve never been in a union and don’t really have a view of them other than they can be a pain for big companies, which I think is a good thing.

Read their list of bullshite demands and tell me again how it is a "good thing".

The NY Times has spent years and years pushing the kind of shite that is now being demanded of them. I hope the whole damn thing folds.

I mean yeah it is ridiculous. But also you have to ask big in my opinion. So you get sliver of what you originally demanded and it’s a real win.

Shut down the division, outsource the tech to India, 100% brown tech staff and none of this honky, left coast, counterproductive bullshite.

Everybody wins except the losers.

I’d actually start reading The NY Times if they just said “Nah” and fired them all on the spot.

I probably would too. But you know that's not how this works. Instead they'll give them whatever they want, then raise prices, then deal with an already massively declining subscriber base, then they'll whine about it all.

Eventually the NYT will be just some trademark-in-name-only owned by a Saudi billionaire.

Eh. This place has gotten decidedly more blue collar than it used to be.

Regardless, four-day work week should be standard now.

The requests/demands here seem pretty unreasonable. Which puts a bad taste in peoples mouth.

However, don't underestimate the amount of bootlickers here that sit around and push papers around on their desk every day and call it "work."
