Milbank started a salary war today. First year associates get a bump to $190K.
It’s a bubble.

What's that in BR dollars? 50k?

Not a big deal for NYC

That’s a soccer board salary. Not worthy of the OT

I have watched “suits”.
What’s that work out to hourly?
$20?

It’s not bad for a single person. Milbank also raised for all of their offices, so it’s even more meaningful for those in a lower cost of living area.

You can live very well off that, assuming your student debt isn't ridiculous. NYC isn't that expensive.

Seriously what kind of salary war when you have to hit 2400 billable hours per year?

I lived there making like 75k. Granted I was living with my girlfriend so we had 2 incomes.

What are the bonuses? 10 percent or so?
Doesn’t seem like a bubble at all to me when you look at salaries in the financial services sector.

$190k is still a lot of money in New York. Your take home is probably about $126k. A 2 bedroom averages $3600 a month in the city. That leaves $82,800 for everything else.
Not to mention added income of a spouse.

How many hours a week they working? 80?

Tucker Max did better. And documented it.

Is Milbank 2400? That’s an outlier. Most are 2000 or 2100.

80 hours is bullshite talk for a lawyer. They will think of something out of the office, jot it down in 10 minutes and bill as 2 hours.
By that math, I work 10 hours weekly while taking a dump.

I don’t remember what first year bonuses are. Bonuses tend to top out at $100K for senior classes, except for some that add on for additional hours.

You want to live in Manhattan or just one of the boroughs?
Because you are eventually going to have to tell someone if you live in outer Brooklyn.
