They’re likely more concerned about the complete and utter disgrace of a culture that the majority of their future generations are living and promoting in the modern era.

This is a black lady who was a tour guide for years who posted a message to everyone who is happy to see Nottoway burn.

She tells a story of a Jewish man from the northeast who came down and was touring Nottoway. At the end of the tour he asked her how could she do the tour knowing what happened to her ancestors. She asked him if he ever toured Auschwitz and he said he had and then she asked him if they should stop the tours of Auschwitz, he told her absolutely not, he wants people to here the story of what happened to his people and she told him that's exactly why she is a tour guide there and loves doing so.

She talked about how history shouldn't be eliminated.. But then I thought. Maybe that isn't a bad idea.. Because a lot of black people in the south would be better off if they didn't have slavery to use as a victim card. Who cares about the black people who had jobs today because of Nottoway right? Yall would rather hold them down all in the name of some shite you never experienced.

Oh and she also said people need to stop googling until they find something that supports what they believe.. Doesn't sound like bad advice.

She then went on to tell people that there are black people who have jobs there who no longer has jobs today.

Biggest mistake the Union made was not severely and affirmatively pushing the South for their secession.

Those souls got their vindication when the oppressors left this earth and met their maker and learned of their eternal fate, not when some building burned down over a hundred years later. Stop being an idiot like the other dumbasses on Facebook.

I get it would have cost a lot of money amd took away from the originality of the building. But I would have thought something as valuable as the most iconic plantation in the country would have sprinkler system installed.

Actually I don’t think it would have taken Away from the originality of it. They can be concealed and/or painted to blend in. Possibly noticeable however it’s a form of protection and not building a wall out of laminate tiles. It could be looked past and very un noticeable.

As far as cost. Depending on when and what was needed, would not have been horrible if the city water supply feeding them or in the vicinity, that they could have a dedicated tie in was adequate. As I stated prior, and I don’t know for a fact, but I can almost guarantee that the other, newer facilities on site have sprinkler and suppression protection as it would be required for occupancy on what they are fulfilling. Main house was prob grandfathered in and didn’t meet the occupancy standards for the state to require a sprinkler and/or fire alarm system when they did upgrades.

50 psi of supply is more than enough for a general wet pipe sprinkler system to all those structures. Again, keep in mind that these systems aren’t intended or designed to all dump at the same time nor all outlets flow at the same time. It’s calculated on a max number of heads for how long. It’s a strategic analysis. The final images that you see of the rotunda in flames, no sprinkler system would put that out. That's not the situation sprinkler systems are designed for.

As someone else mentioned, if supply was the issue, they could dig a pond and have fire pumps to assist supply in the event of an emergency. My guess and my bet is that this is just another one of those situations where the city infrastructure deteriorates over the years. Neglected, and never given the attention it needs. The other systems were installed on the property and when they were installed, demand was there. Through time those lines started to fail/break down and there was no maintenance done on the city infrastructure leading to the facility. I’m also willing to bet that the one hydrant in the vacunity hadn’t been inspected or flowed with c factor testing let alone gpm data in years.

And lastly yes. Once it’s in your yard it’s on you. Plantations, which seem lavish, seem money makers, operate on slim margins and most money comes from elsewhere. A sprinkler system with ponds and pumps would seem like a no brainer but coming up with 2.5 mil plus for that just incase is hard. I mean the bld has been standing almost 200 years. What is our risk assessment for that when we don’t have it.
