. If you get the chance, TiVo the documentary called "80s: The Decade That Made Us". It's a 6 part, 6 hour documentary covering the entire decade. Probably the best 80s documentary I've ever seen. Really well done.

What channel?

I agree. I loved that series. I think it came on either discovery or A&E.

"The Day After" came out. The latter movie was about life in Lawrence, Kansas during a real life nuclear war and it freaked the heck out of people

That movie freaked a lot of folks out.

As a kid, I had nightmares about a full scale nuclear exchange all the time. I never really expected to live to be middle aged.

That was the great thing about being the age I was during the 80s. I had just started the 3rd grade when the Cold War was at its most intense point so I was pretty clueless of what was going on. I can see where it would have been disconcerting if I was older. Our relationship with the Russians improved dramatically in the mid 80s when Gorbachev became Russia's leader so things had settle down big time by the time I was old enough to know what was going on.

Those were the college years and are kind of fuzzy.

I used to burn through some minutes in AOL chat rooms probably talking to old dudes pretending to be strippers.

Those people were crazy and would have like E-proms and E-homecomings, it was insane how invested some of those people were in that "community". I just wanted some whore to "type" dirty to me in a private room.
