Capital punishment ABSOLUTELY deters crime. The one executed WON'T do any more crime, hence, DETERRED!!!!

So you think that she would obey the “not driving without a license” law after her license was revoked.

Certainly not, however, this means she would now be breaking a law that matters. Although its still malum prohibitum, operational licenses infractions are an easier justification for jail time. I see idiot drivers all the time that are stone sober and are just bad drivers. How do we "fix" them?

And we should wait until she ruins someone else’s life by permanently taking away someone else’s family member so she can have freedom?

This is a risk every time you enter public roadways. Newsflash, intoxicated drivers arent the only drivers that cause accidents. The number 1 cause of accidents are distracted drivers. How are you going to legislate that risk away?

My only point is that drunk drivers should just have their licenses revoked. Jail time should be reserved for people who actually hurt others. There are many things we do in life that put others at risk. We dont go to jail for them.

Hell, most people over the age of 80 are effectively "drunk" when behind the wheel as their motor skills are certainly impaired to the level of a drunk person. Ive never heard of someone going to jail for "driving while old". They will however, take your license away for it and thats what Im proposing for intoxicated drivers. Am I wrong for expecting equal application?

Just admit the double standard.

I dont believe that. If a drunk person doesnt think rationally enough to NOT drive, do you really expect them to think about the death penalty? Capital punishment has never deterred crime. Serial killers and murderers dont second guess their actions because of the death penalty.

I don't know that they don't think rationally. A lot of it comes down to how likely they think they'll get caught. Doesn't matter what the penalty is, if you think there's a near zero chance you'll get caught, your expected cost is still close to zero. Like someone said above, if she's been caught 5 times, she's probably done it 500, which would equate to a 1% chance of getting caught, which leads o a fairly low expected cost of driving drunk.

Cutting off both might work. Hard to hold a drink when you have no hands. If someone is her enabler they could make her a drink and stick a straw in it for her to slurp on.

Who am I kidding, just put a bullet in her brain.

She should be required to have a self driving car. Even though those kill people and they don’t drink.

Who would the officer talk to when a self driving car rolls thru a DWI checkpoint? Would the car even stop and roll down the window?

60 years for a bunch of dwi's.

Yikes almost as bad as drug dealers(no gun offenses) doing life for Mary J.

Yet people go out drunk, drive, kill others and get probation.

This woman needs jail time and treatment, not a life sentence.

So, it makes more sense to you to wait until she kills innocent people? Then, it's ok to lock her up?

You don't have kids, do you?

Would actually be her 7th. Four DWIs and two vehicular negligent injury. You have to meet the DWI criteria to be charged with that and vehicular homicide.

I know a guy that got sentenced 5 years for his 4th DWI. They let him out after 4.5 months and he got another DWI the next day. Got to be mental illness.

I have often thought they they should come up with an ankle bracelet that releases (like a patch) some type of drug (not sure what would work but something could be developed) that if the wearer drinks alcohol they violently vomit until the alcohol leaves their system.

Make them have to wear the bracelet for a period of 5 years to avoid prison.

Some people just can not live responsibly and this is why we have jails. Lock her up.

She should do time, but people saying it's habitual after one or 2 need to be careful. Most anyone that drinks has driven drunk. It's still in your system the next morning.

Honestly, every vehicle should require a breath sample before starting. If it's so dangerous, that's the easiest way to stop it.

Shhh....They don't want to hear this that would mean their precious church going children, grandparents, and parents might face serious consequences for texting and driving or just being old and impaired.
