Guess we're not allowed to just wonder about things anymore.

Sounds like quite a plan -- more armed officers who can hit a target. I'm sure LaToya can find more tax dollars to pay off all those personal injury lawsuits.

Instead of lawyers standing on top of 18-wheelers, they'll be standing on top of NOPD units yelling out phone numbers to call if you, or some of your budding neurosurgeon offspring, have been injured by a stray bullet.

They were the largest roaster in the US, not sure if they still hold that title though. Payroll is pretty impressive.

I am not a young man and I've lived most of my life in the New Orleans metro. I have literally never met anyone who worked for Folgers.

All I am saying is that the city should ask for a real cost/benefit analysis:

1) How big is the break being requested?

2) How much other tax money do Folgers and its employees and immediate suppliers contribute DIRECTLY to the city? (Throw out all the some-guy's-girfriend-at-a-convenience-store-10-years-from-now butterfly effect bullshite)

3) What is the return rate earned on 2 minus 1?

4) How does that return rate compare to other investments made by well-run cities?

I'm not exactly Milton Friedman, but I know enough to ask for this and assess Folgers' answer in some rudimentary way.

They did that.

Did they get an answer?

Can I see this?

What's the bathroom situation like at the Folgers plant? Any stress-free places to hide and void?

The PANO president also stated that the task force will have the ability to circumvent the U.S. Department of Justice-mandated Consent Decree, which governs NOPD officers:

“Except now directed by LaToya Cantrell, they will not be under the direction of the NOPD

The Consent Decree was issued by the Justice Dept to battle corruption in the NOPD. The NOPD is under Federal supervision

LaToya’s police will be the opposite. Don’t let the fact Homeland Security is involved give you the impression this will be a federal police force. Their job will be to issue weapons permits to LaToya’s personal police force.

Why is that needed? Because real police officers have to undergo actual police training, meet certain standards, and pass evaluations before they are allowed to carry weapons, enforce laws, and arrest citizens.

LaToya is about to have her own Gestapo to enforce her opinions upon the city.

Consent Decrees (all legal decrees) are issued by judges, not federal agencies.

I wonder who on this board is on board with rejecting the Folgers tax breaks and moving the money toward police/fire.

I’ve never understood why people support tax breaks for a specific company but not for everyone.

Guttenberg was robbed of the Oscar that year. The emotional depth of his performance was once in a lifetime stuff.

Wasn't that the whole reason for the violence in Portland? They didn't like federal cops right?

Go ahead and chase away more companies from New Orleans. It will surely get better if you continue on your current path of punishing business and rewarding the parasites amongst us.

Not DHS, NOHSEP. This is a different city department, much like NOPD and NOFD.
