NOPD PANO president warns against officer furloughs, mass resignations

Very uplifting article for those who live in Orleans Parish as LaToya clearly has her plan to eliminate crime.
Law Enforcement Today
NEW ORLEANS, LA – The city that’s known as The Big Easy is currently facing some big problems after the mass exodus of more than 100 law enforcement officers. Now, city officials are scrambling to make up for the drastic loss in officers with a citizen task force.
“Prior to this we were averaging two to three people leaving a week, and that was pretty consistent over the last several years. So, the attrition numbers are definitely beating out the recruitment.”
The PANO president also stated that the task force will have the ability to circumvent the U.S. Department of Justice-mandated Consent Decree, which governs NOPD officers:
“Except now directed by LaToya Cantrell, they will not be under the direction of the NOPD, they will be under Homeland Security, where they can be issued Special Officer permits to carry weapons and circumvent the POST requirements that real police officers must meet.

I wonder if PANO is getting onboard with the idea to reject the $25MM in tax breaks given to Folgers.
I wonder who on this board is on board with rejecting the Folgers tax breaks and moving the money toward police/fire.

I don't see why NOLA would give any tax breaks to a coffee company when Reily Foods is already a major presence in the city. Reily Foods is paying their full tax bill, as far as I know.
Am I missing something here?

Folgers asked for the tax break and it is in front of the council at this point.
Moreno is on the side of blocking the breaks.
I can find the article if you want. But it is pretty generic.

The council and the mayor both supported the status quo when it came to DA.
Both have not supported "defunding the police"

I mean, there's no harm in asking. But this just seems like a sucker's deal for the city.
Some out-of-town company regrets paying all those taxes and wants some of them back? And all they're doing is basically piling up coffee in a warehouse? How much could they possibly be paying in taxes anyway?
I don't get it. If I were Latoya, I'd dust my wig off and ask Folgers to present some kind of cost-benefit analysis... and I mean a fluff-free one, not some crap about their security guard's grandnephew buying M&Ms from the UNO vending machine 15 years from now.

Where would it go?
Houston now that it’s a designated coffee port. New Orleans no longer has the monopoly on the Gulf of Mexico for coffee.

I believe they were granted the tax breaks the last two times they have applied. Not sure it was for the full amount though.
They were the largest roaster in the US, not sure if they still hold that title though. Payroll is pretty impressive.

Federal police force.
What an absolutely awful idea.
That said, are we the only country that doesn't have a general national police agency?

Just a question. I am simply curious. There is no agenda behind it.
Damn dude, chill.
