Council member JP Morrell said the code modifications were meant to push back against the “Krewe of Chad,”

Morrell is basically a chad himself. He wears sneakers everywhere even with a suit, and he's only 1/4th black and his wife is white too.

Complete elimination of all tents and cooking devices is fricking nonsense.

They aren't going to fully enforce it anyway so you can continue on with your kegger on St Charles

Yea, all the blacks down by whatever Lee circle is will likely not have any enforcement. Napoleon and lower St Charles though will get all teh enforcement,

The council did not specifically discuss the enforcement of the new rules.

Or how in the hell it could be enforced. You know the PD don't want any part of that.

It’s like they intentionally want less people to celebrate Mardi Gras

They aren't going to fully enforce it but I get why they are doing it.

Personally I don't care about it as much as I care about the folding chairs. They are the bane of my fricking existence. I would trade banning those and allowing a billion tents in a heartbeat.

I also think you might see a lawsuit or two over this, to be fair. They have to allow some accommodations

Yea, you're a fricking dweeb. We get it,

Because you're a dweeb. Those of us that have a life time of memories doing this will have a bit more attachment than you.

And there is gonna be more piss on the streets.

Port-a-potties placed by the city for public use are still allowed.

They're targeting people that show up with their own private port-a-potty in the bed of their truck or on a utility trailer and park it right off the parade route.

I used to work with a guy who did that. He'd rent a port-a-potty and have it in the bed of his pickup truck and park on a side street right off St Charles, about 100' or so from the parade route and just leave his truck there all week with a padlock on the port-a-potty door.

You don't see tents out there. You see canopies. Are they classifying a canopy as a tent?

If not you will see even more canopies. A canopy for every space that uses to have a tarp.

Also, is a blanket a tarp?

You have a lifetime of attachment to putting up a tent on a parade route?

One would assume.

I would assume no.

This is why it was always ridiculous that cities could not ban homeless encampments. Cities have zoning and other laws that regulate behavior, down to how large the sign is on your building to how many cars you can have parked there.

If telling someone they can't camp on the sidewalk is illegal, then it's all illegal and you can do anything, anywhere.

One would expect that will be the most heavily enforced due to visibility.

I can see what you're saying about the BBQ pits and so on. We obviously did some of that in college, and honestly I do not see THAT much of that sort of thing except in the areas that Morell seems to specifcally not be targeting, where it is rampant.

The tents is more of what I was referring to, and they got way way way out of hand last year along St Charles. It was ridiculous.
