My friend said it best
In New Orleans it takes 15 minutes to get anywhere
Tchoup and Poydras to Jefferson and Magazine? (4 miles)
takes about 15 minutes
Tchoup and Poydras to the airport? (~9 miles)
takes about 15 minutes

I was stuck in a bullshite meeting downtown that didn't end until 6. This wreck completely fricked my commute home. The detour to Claiborne, Earhart over to Cleary, to Causeway left me with whiplash, busted struts, and bent alloy wheels.
Not directing this at you, but it says you live in Madisonville.. i live in NOLA, but i know tons of ppl who live across the lake, deal with a 45 min- 1.5 hr commute each way to downtown NOLA and then complain that homes in NOLA are 'overpriced'... What price do they put on spending 2 or 3 hrs of their life in a car each day? I think living in New Orleans is worth the price tag to avoid those types of commutes, even after factoring in the cost of private schools.

Not to sound too hokey, but in situations like that, i always try to remind myself that it could be worse
I agree. I also remind myself that I'm not a little girl complaining about traffic.

Live and work uptown. I go months without ever going on the interstate. I love it

I agree, fifteen minutes is a LITTLE optimistic, but certainly except on huge traffic event days, one can be across the entire metropolitan area in 35 minutes. Even from the farthest reaches of Kenner to Chalmette isn't the day-long hassle it used to be when I was a kid in the 70s.
Growing up on the West Bank, going to the northshore was an ordeal. Now? We'll run to our friends' home butt-up against I-12 in Slidell in less than an hour. That was unheard of at one time.

half of Claiborne shutdown under the interstate.
Got caught in this. What bullshite. It was down to one lane at 6 pm. Why? Because DOTD was out there installing overhead signs.
Any other place in America... this work is done at 1 am.

Sure do miss Tony Bonaguera doing traffic from the plane. He knew every street AND what was going down from 5,000 feet.
Why don't they use a plane anymore? Other major cities still use traffic choppers.

This is someone time of day dependent.
In late afternoon. getting to the airport on 10 is a PITA because of where it goes from 5 lanes to 3 at Veterans.
And taking Airline can always be a crapshoot depending on how well the lights are synced up between Zephyr Field and the airport.
