in Metairie closed at 7 PM tonight? Went to pick up a drive-up order & were told they are closed by an employee.
Another employee told us that they’re closing early for “emergency”. He’s assuming due to the protests. Zea’s was also closing & was moving tables and chairs inside. No signs of protests anywhere near this area.

Man why they gotta frick with Metairie. Them JP folks (including my whole family) are a good crowd. But they won’t stand by and be scared if this spills into neighborhoods

Wasn’t that the incident where the JPSO chased a car into Orleans Parish and the car wrecked under the Earhart overpass and and the JPSO shot into the car on Orleans turf?

In fact, I was one of the first people to head towards Manhattan. I was walking towards the back when a few people started heading that way from WB Expressway with cries of “Let’s go this way! Hit em where the money’s at!”
For those not familiar, Manhattan is a major thoroughfare on the WB, heavily trafficked and tons of business. Eventually from a couple people, a large chunk of the protest headed down to block Manhattan lanes on both sides.
I want to reiterate that everybody was 100% peaceful! Impassioned but peaceful. People were chanting, handing out water, exchanging numbers of lawyers, etc. At one point an ambulance came and the crowd immediately parted to let it through.
But the police showed up with riot gear and a SWAT truck. The organizers started calling “white bodies to the front!” I ain’t gonna lie I was scared af but I was like welp, let’s do this. We stood our ground and the situation eventually de-escalated.
