I don’t think those that don’t own property should be able to vote on anything

Me either. It's poor people getting to vote taxes on the middle and upper class. It's why property taxes are bullshite. It means that you never own your home. Sales taxes are a better way to fund things imo.

Libraries, fire departments, schools, police...
Sounds like an invoicing nightmare and also sounds like a shitty society.
Sure, we can go line item by line item.
For starters, libraries are pretty much outdated now with the advent of the internet. Very few people in our society use them yet everybody has to pay for them. How can you justify that? If they cant sustain themselves with user fees they need to not exist like any other business.
Although this is somewhat debatable, fire suppression can be fairly well argued as one of the few legitimate uses of public funding. I would say that's under the purview of local government.
Schools are easy. If your kid is enrolled in public school you pay the portion of your property tax that supports public schools. If you're not a property owner, then that cost is passed to whoever you're living with or to your landlord, if you rent. That cost is then passed on from the landlord to the tenant in the form of increased rent. It actually doesn't amount to that much and it's already factored into rent.
Source: Me. I'm a landlord.
It wouldn't actually increase the rent for those with kids in public school because that's already factored in, it would only reduce the rent for those who don't have kids in public school as the property tax savings will be passed on to the landlord.
And no, it likely wouldn't mean increased millages to support public school funding because nobody's going to vote for them. It would force administrators and politicians to be more careful with their budgets and stop being so wasteful. It also might mean consolidation of some schools which would increase travel time for some. There's always a price to pay. You're the one with kids in school, you should be the one to have to deal with it.
Also, it's helpful to know that the cost to educate a public school student per year, on average in the US is around $11,400. That's why vouchers have become popular. It often cost a lot less than that to send your kids to private school.
Government is inherently inefficient. There's no reason we should all be giving our money to our governments to try to manage the education of our kids and other people's kids, when we can give it to a private school who does the job better.
Law enforcement absolutely is under the purview of local and state government. Military and law enforcement, providing for the security of the free state, is one of the original intended and justified executions of government power.

You do realize City Park makes a lot of money on top of the money tax payers are already giving them?
Why shouldn’t Audubon continue to receive dollars?
City Park does not charge admission to use the park. It also receives zero local tax dollars. The zoo and aquarium already receive a millage AND charge admission fees.

Your ignorance was exposed in this first statement.
Pretty much voided everything you said past this point.

You wanna bet? Go try and ask them to use their baseball, softball, soccer fields and see how much they charge and get back to me.
You’re so misinformed about what goes on in this city it scares me that you’re actually a teacher.
Remind me what school you teach at again?

Don’t project your illiteracy onto the general public. According to The latest statistics available, more people visit libraries currently than 10 years ago.

I don’t care to read the rest of your post.

Who are you again? Have we ever interacted before? Sorry that I have no clue what your job is nor do I care, internet stranger who I will never meet.
If your defense is to make personal attacks against a random internet stranger, then you have no case. Grow up, weirdo.

What does any of that matter?
I’m responding to your post on a public message board.
I asked you a question, your response to MY post tells me all I need to know about you.

Got to any public park with an fenced in softball/soccer field that is maintained and you will have to pay. Now you can go play on the field at Marconi and Harrison for free. You can play pick up games at the festival grounds. As long as you aren’t playing a league out there you don’t get charged.

Nope. Still have to pay for that field. Even if it’s just practice

I Have been out there countless times and never had anyone stop bye to say anything.

They won’t say anything, but if you want to reserve it and get a permit showing you have it reserved, or if you want them to turn the lights on, it’s gonna cost you

I know that people don’t have to pay anything to enter City Park, walk through acres of the park or play on any of the playgrounds at the park. Yes, people must pay to use special sections of the park, but the vast majority of the park is free for public use.
And yes, we are strangers. Someone being pathetic enough to sleuth around to find out my name does not mean that you know me. I still have no clue who you are, nor do I care to find out.

Hahaha yes if you want to rent their field of course you have to pay. That is just like many other parks if you want to reserve and use their lights you pay.

That’s what I’m saying.
Even without the lights, the access to the fields in city park are not free.
I’ve rented a baseball field in city park for 3 straight years in a row from March to July.
Guess who had to maintain the field at their own expense?

Sure. Meet me at the CDM stand at City Park tomorrow at 10. I’ll pay your admission fee to get into the park.
If you actually knew me, you’d know I’m happily married with zero interest in meeting or corresponding with assholes from the internet.

Don’t care what the tax is, I’ll always vote no. frickers have plenty of tax money to go around. They need to do a better job directing where it goes, and more importantly, where it doesn’t.

I’m sure I can fit you in
