The media in this country, as a whole, has abdicated their responsibility and should be ashamed of themselves. They need to ask themselves what exactly are they employed to perform? There are some fine reporters out there, but they are in the minority. Hate to whitewash the bunch, but they are disgraceful. I would be ashamed if I performed my job that poorly. If they do not clean up their act, they won’t have a profession. This country is starving for true news. The first one of them to figure this aspect out will be famous. We all just want the news to be straight truth. Sadly that time appears to have passed into history. I still hold out hope!

She's taking all of her bucket list trips before she gets out of office. Make all the memories on the tax payers dime. She can't get reelected so what's the harm?! Her chances of jail time are slim and if she does go it will be a country club and for a couple years just like the honorable Ray Nagin did.

People get what they pay for, and no one is paying for local media. National media and online platforms have vacuumed up all advertising revenue and there is nothing left to fund local media. It is tragic but the truth is Cantrell is the mayor of a city without a legitimate daily newspaper. There isn’t local media left that can apply real pressure. They don’t make newspapers anymore and even if they did no one is reading it.
The death of local media is a national tragedy.

I'm not really concerned about which political party my local politicians belong to. The DNC's and RNC's national policies should not, for the most part, have any bearing on how local issues are resolved. So, as long as a local politician's policies succeed in ensuring adequate city services to the taxpayers (i.e. effective law enforcement; smooth roads; good public schools; and regular/functioning water, electricity, and trash services), I couldn't care less about that local politician's stances on national issues.
That said, however, all those things are worse than they've ever been in New Orleans ever since Cantrell took the reins.
