Sorry about what your Dad went through...if that happened in Orleans parish, they'd basically say "rub some dirt on it" and it's on the list...but not a priority in any way.
I love uptown, and I'll miss it. We've lived here almost five years, but one of my buddies got robbed right near Kingpin last week and I was pretty mad. What's the point of living somewhere you can walk to great restaurants and bars if it's not safe to walk there??

I was at a public park in NOLA today watching my son play. A car rolls up and out gets a guy wearing a paintball mask. I read this thread last night and I was pretty sure what was going to happen. Hatchback pops open and the masked man grabs a paintball gun. The driver then got out and they chat a bit and then shoot a nearby garbage can a few times and put it all away. They hang out for a minute and leave.
I was dressed nice and I was out of place. Probably threw them off. I bet it was the same guys. Hypothetically, if you do carry, does it matter? Paintball is non lethal. Not sure how that works.
