You do know there are about 11 different cab companies in NOLA right. That's not counting the limo services.

Not really competition when the prices are fixed IMO

What's wrong with one more company then? No one here is saying leave them unregulated. Just asking them not to regulate them out of the market

If uber comes in and becomes the only show in town it would be a lot easier for one company to pay off polticians than 11 different.

The only way that Uber can become "the only show in town" is if they're either significantly better than cab companies (good) or via government protection (bad, basically what we're doing for cab companies now). If NOLA allows the free market to do its thing, Uber will have competition from similar services so long as the government doesn't prevent entry into the market.

What the frick kind of question is this?

they're going to use this to say they're trying to stop illegal behavior, instead of admitting their laws are irrational

That's what NOLA is trying to do with Uber (fixing minimum prices so that they can't blow cab companies out of the water).

Yes.

If he's the same one I heard on the news last night, I'm surprised he passed the DL test.

they want to force, via legislation, having to use a louisiana-licensed car (which will be limited by government). they will use this to keep Uber's black car service out

these limo owners are just mad that their government-based cartel is being threatened and they'll have to compete on price/service (more price for limos....service for cabs)

Is there like a live call in number where I can tell them I want Uber because I am sick and tired of getting in nasty, smelly taxis with nasty smelly drivers?

You are really missing the point bro. If they don't price uber out the market and let them compete strait up with the local guys the local guys will be out of a job. If these guys are out of work they will be out on the street adding to the population of bums in the city.....

And what's the biggest problem in NOLA ?

Piss & Bums

THIS MONEY LEAVES NEW ORLEANS!!!

which is an argument saying, "frick you, electorate and population of new orleans. you have to suffer by using inferior services while we feed the government, that is using its power to keep your savings and personal efficiency away from you....for your own good"
