Noises that have woken you up

What are the strangest, craziest, scariest noises that have woken you up?
I ask this as I’ve been hearing “scratching” coming from the living room lately at night. Both of my children will be asleep in their last rooms and our dog and cat will be in our ( wife and i’s) room at night.
I’ve gotten out of bed to inspect the sound that has been loud enough to wake me on multiple nights and discovered nothing. Both the wife and I hear it as well as the dog.
Just wondering if anyone else out there has any stories to tell about strange noises they hear from the bed.

Was staying at the house in Mississippi one weekend hunting. I was alone and woke up at 2am to the sound of furniture sliding across the wooden floor.
House was built in the 1700s. Had a aunt somewhere back in the line hang herself in the attic.
I didn't get out of bed to see what it was because I'm a pussy.

Many times, lately in a new house and I can't sleep. Quiet neighborhood. Pipes "settling" I guess. If animals and kids hear something no one can figure out, I would worry. My dog doesn't even move regarding these noises, so all good.

Last Tuesday night it was my truck horn going off because the cold did something to the circuit. I had to run outside in 15 degree weather and disconnect it.

When I was a kid I was woken up by a lightning strike and the resulting thunderclap just outside my window. It was over as soon as it began so I wasn't really scared, but it legit sounded (and looked) like TNT. Shook the whole damn house.

I flat out refused to sleep in that house up until I took a girl up there to hunt freshman year of college. I'd always sleep at the "hunting cabin" instead of the house.
Place creeps me the frick out when I'm up there alone at night. Old arse paintings that stare at you. Weird old house noises. Tin roof with oak trees above so loud bangs randomly from shite falling on the tin.

My dog puking on my carpet. That sound will snap you out of deep sleep
