I haven't seen a meat shortage here in south Alabama but after the repeal of the COOL act in 2015 I started meat shopping at local butchers. Pretty cool to go in and ask hey where did this chicken come from and get an answer like "you know Jones chicken houses bout 15 miles down county rd 7"

Same way at the Kroger in Madison...there was actually a better selection than normal.
