At 9:30 we were around 22% positive tests. We’ll see how that changes with next update.

BR is about to explode with cases in terms of reported positives.
Considering last weekend they had a ward full of patients and zero confirmed cases it wouldn't surprise me.

Is there a reason to hang on that number?

Even if that goes to 50% it doesnt mean a ton. Just means we have isolated who is likely to have it.

Oschner NOLA is now testing in-house, and Shreveport is expected to start soon. They expect a 24 hour turnaround on most tests.
That combined with the backlog of waiting on private labs to return results from the past week, means we could see a wave of new cases over the next week.
JBE has a big Town hall type forum Monday night. Maybe he wants to skip a couple of updates so a huge jump in cases will support further restrictions, or maybe they want to give people a Sunday afternoon off work after a busy week instead of organizing another press conference.

Ive been tracking it and curve-fit it as an exponential (would be right at 1000) and cubic polynomial (640) at 5:30. The exponential curve didnt fit very well but the polynomial fit perfectly, not that it spreads that way though. Probably will look more like the exponential with more testing.

Many will get hung up on the big rise while not seeing that it’s on par with previous updates and numbers.

Someone was tracking the percentage earlier, did their math. Was actually hoping the percentage would go up more.
