Wow. Can anyone imagine Tiger NOT wearing Nike?

Nike was always crap compared to the other big guns.[/quote]
A lot of truth in that. I used to work for the golf swoosh. If I had stayed in the club professional business, they would have never gotten into my shop.

They were great for chunking into the water hazard.

It's funny that since Titliest is a classic brand, they're just thought of as good clubs. Someone with a set of AP2s should go put them on a L&L and see just how bad they're off. I saw a 39* PW from them off the rack before.

A friend of mine saw a blonde bigfoot in a powerline in Lasalle Parish.

They attached themselves to an up and comer.. from Ireland.. that doesn't play the media game like all the young American guys. You'll never see Rory hitting driver shirtless and shoeless with his other top 10 friends on snapchat. For that reason, he was a bad gamble.
Not to mention he's kind of a prick.

Nike made hundreds of millions on golf. The game is shrinking, and they're getting out before it does.
Adidas wants to unload Taylormade for the same reason
Precisely. Has nothing to do with Tiger or his career. Has nothing to do with the quality of their equipment, or money they have made in the past. This will get down-voted to hell, but the number of people playing golf is shrinking fast.

But he has those cool workout commercials!
I agree with you big time about the social media aspect. Fowler, Smylie, and JT are about the only reason I watch snapchat stories. They're having the time of their lives (which consequently, might be why they aren't winning like their buddy Spieth)

Now Tiger can go play with some real clubs again, like some Mizuno's.
When do you expect Tiger to come back to the point he is worth investing in? He was great for the game of golf. In his prime... Well up until his wife found out he was banging all those broads.. The TV ratings for the masters doubled with Tiger playing. I don't know the exact numbers, but I want to say without Tiger the ratings would be right under 2 million. With him it would be close to 4 million.. I might have the numbers wrong, but they did double with him playing.
He was probably Nike's ticket into the golf world, but Tiger hasn't been Tiger since his situation. I think its amazing just how someone can go from as good as he was to what he is now as quick as he did, but either way, golf hurts with Woods.

Tiger just had Nike mill the "swoosh" on to his mizunos anyway.
Was forced to use their woods and worst of all their putter.

Spieth is all over their snapchat stuff..
Regardless, they're catering towards the younger crowd and its working.

basically an 8 iron? are they all that strong?
was thinking about getting some AP2s!

Nike has made some of the best forged irons in golf for the last 7-8 years
This thread is a great example as to why Nike is getting out of the equipment game. Most golfers are elitist and cannot fathom anything other than ProV1 balls, Titleist/TaylorMade/Callaway clubs, Cleveland wedges, Cameron putters, etc. Don't get me wrong, those brands make great stuff, but so does/did Nike.
Nike golf clubs and balls are like the Hyundai Genesis or Equus - incredible value in a premium product, but without the pedigree, people are going to struggle giving it a chance.

Probably a smart move. There haven't been any real technological advances in golf equipment in years. How are you going to push consumers to buy your new product when it is basically the exact same as the thing you put out 10 year ago that works just as well.
That and golf popularity is shrinking in general. I get it

Did Nike ever start making balls?

No they're not all that strong, some are strong some are weak some are flat and some are upright. The tolerance at Titleist is terrible.
