I doubt the city misses taking your nickels.
Mine personally, probably not but the compounding effect of lest revenue is certainly being felt. In 2021 they lost close to $100 mill and no, I am not nearly all of that but I contribute.
Its like saying that a vote doesnt count on election day. One single vote no but the compounding effect certainly makes a difference.

You're so triggered and it's hysterical.
What's your angle? I am confused...do you not think NOLA misses lost convention and tourism revenue or that I cannot afford to spend more than $50?
You have some obsession with me and I get that, I just don't know what your point is.

Ok, but probably an outlier being post Covid. Lets see what 2022 says.

Thank you for clearing up you aren’t close to a full 100M annual contribution

Why do you say it was probably an outlier? COVID drove tourism down around the world but how long can that be an excuse?
Hotel capacity was down again for this NYE and availability was able to found with relative ease for the cities largest events (Jazz Fest, Mardi Gras, Sugar Bowl, etc.) and I just don't know how long people can use the COVID excuse. People are avoiding the city and while I don't drive the $100 mill revenue loss, I do contribute. Things need to change and hopefully $ is the thing that opens eyes and forces change.

Because Covid hurt tourism. Lets see what the 2022 numbers say.

I know what 2019 numbers were and they were record breaking
20mm visitors.
COVID 2020 decreased those numbers but I have no doubt the city will return to those numbers
People love to visit New Orleans. They couldn’t care less about the crime
People are dumb

Yeah it will be interesting to see the 2022 numbers.

Yeah the economy is more of a factor than crime.

All I can tell you is the city has been packed this weekend. We’ll see how Mardi Gras goes, but I assume it will return to a normal crowd. Maybe less than normal since magazine street will still be cut out unfortunately.
I know lots of people who threaten to protest and always say they’ll never spend a dime in the city, but it reminds me of the people who said they’d never watch the NFL again. The city will heal and so will people’s feelings.

I get COVID impacts (and still does) revenue losses world wide and there is no denying that but I think it would be a little naive to think that is the only factor. Safety concerns, crime, etc are all having an impact on the cities convention and tourism industry.

Don’t mind him. LakeSoy is a cuck and wants to believe that anarchal policies are good for the USA. He loves his Marxist leaders but is too stupid to realize the long term ramifications of shitty policies will screw everyone over - but hey, that’s how equity works.

Maybe so but I have stuck to my guns

Like I said, it's petty and I have good friends who own and run business in the city and at times it saddens me. I am kind of proud of it so I just run with it as long as I can. It's a silly joke...like I will wait to get gas until I get into Terrytown, Slidell or Metairie we we visit family. For the FSU game we were going to tailgate on the Northshore and Uber into the city for kickoff until we got invited to a private tailgate.
I hope the city heals and I hope the losses being felt now continue and promotes change. People are moving away (and opting for suburbs) and the loss in tax revenue will only shine the light more on the need for the convention and tourism industry.

Yea, but in the grand scheme, January 2022 still had the policy that only 4(?) people could eat at a restaurant together and they had to live together, cruising hadn’t restarted, vaccine/testing requirements were in place, and while conventions limped into the city in Q1 it wasn’t really until final 4 that they legit showed up. The saints haven’t been a draw either.
crime had an impact but…

Why people keep scheduling events there is mind blowing, you are sending innocent people to the lions.
But that's what the city thrives on, tourism and crime

Are you trying to imply the city doesnt miss lost tourism revenue? Are you trying to imply I am poor?
You're so fricking stupid I don't even understand what your attempted insult is.
He defends it at every turn.
At this point, Scruffy wouldn’t be surprised if he voted for Destroya twice.
