This has to be a troll by the NYT. London? Nah. Paris? No. Rome? Too many Catholics. Montgomery, Al? Hell yes! Let's see if we can get people to go there!

The NYT probably thinks UA is in Montgomery.

They do that because listing the same places every year will be boring.

Sure, I'll probably never go to Montgomery or Branson on vacation, but I'm sure there is at least one thing there that is interesting, and that is what these lists intend to highlight.

You can bet your arse there aren't many if any New York Times staffers that have New Orleans or Colombia as their top destinations.

I don't see any particular issues or reasons why New Orleans or Colombia wouldn't be high on people's list.

It isn't 1990 any more.

I know right. It's not like they have been building thousands of condo and apartment units downtown in the last five years. Those neighborhoods that are going through big gentrification with constructions/renovations happening up and down every block must be my imagination.

Just for the record, I would never rank Nola as the best place in the world to visit. That's just a bit over the top. The Times is just pumping the city up because it's a big year for the city by turning 300 and there is a lot going on.

I think they mixed up the violence rankings list with the best places to visit list.

Wife and I took a trip to Bogotá and Santa Marta, Colombia last winter. I can’t wait to go back. It was incredible.

Have a friend who married a women from there so he's been three times now. Loves it.
I'm sure it's no Destin, Branson, or Gatlinburge, but it seems nice

It's on my list. Been eyeing Tayrona National Park and Cartagena, etc for awhile.

I really don’t get it- I’ve been to Paris, London, Vienna, Prague, Rome, Venice, Florence, New York, San Fran, Los Angeles even Jerusalem-
And New Orleans isnt even in the same league as any of those, in my opinion.

Sorry, paying $350 a sq.ft. a block away from Jamal murdering Gramm isn't my idea of a good deal. To each his own I guess.

New Orleans has a lot to offer visitors. I can't see it being the best place in the world.

Why does that matter? Seriously?

What if it were a 25 year old, or a 43 year old, or even a 57 year old?

Tell me what the difference would have been
