The old downtown theatre here did the same thing. It was called the Ritz. Never had any bands, lasted about 2 years. Now its a place for proms, civic affairs and such.

Lafayette had an awesome night life when I was 18-20. I grew up there and started going to the Bulldog when I was 17. Had a Nitetown/Keg phase in 08/09. Kind of quit going after I turned 21 and stuck to Baton Rouge and NOLA. Seems like those days are gone, I recently moved back and all of those places except for the Bulldog are gone.

Corner Bar was where? I don’t recall that one
That’s a bar now in Lafayette in front of the grand and Judice inn. Just joking around how we use to pay $1 for double mixed drinks not that long ago and now those same drinks are $15 plus tip.
The best bars when I was in college were bootleggers and side bar. 2001- 2006 era
You can’t forgot about nite caps.
I don’t remember if I even got into poets. What year did it close? When I was younger I use to think it was a college poetry building

It seemed like the 90’s bars and places to be were more west side of Lafayette. Now it’s moved all on the east side.

The owner of Club Neos lived in the apartment below mine in Hammond.
Lot of drugs were consumed and sold in Windrush Trace from 95-98

There we go! Sidebar was good times. I remember when I worked there being told “go find piano Steve (maybe Dave) he’s probably high af in his car or someone else’s car outside.” Plus the place was haunted so we could hear crazy shite at night when cleaning up or playing Golden Tee till 4-5am

Guuuuuu, I spent some long arse nights in that place, come out of there smelling like some Vick's.
Back in the day, you had to be 21 to get in the clubs around Alexandria, but only 18 in Lafayette. We used to drive down to Laffy every weekend just to go out with my big no-arse X's on my hand and hit on the sorostitutes and Laffy-hoes. Mako's, The Keg, Cowboys, The Plaza, Graham Central Station. That was my shite right there in the early 2000's.

I didn't hang out at the nightclub very much, but I saw some of my favorite stupid movies there, like Flash Gordon, Top Secret and the classic Yor: The Hunter From the Future.
I know about 10,000 people who claim they saw Prince though.

If I could do it again I would have been a bartender or something in the nightclubs. I was already there spending money. Might as well drink for free and get paid while I was there

Night life is trending downwards, but downtown is trending up with new restaurants for the 30ish crowd.

quote:Yep, we frequent Tap Room because it's in the neighborhood, but will get dragged out to the two Corner Bars and Legends South on occasion. Also, sometimes Legends on Johnston for some day drinking. Wurst or the bar at Pamplona if we're downtown and looking for somewhere to drink after dinner.
Tap Room, Corner Bar, Corner Bar Youngsville, Pour are all really nice, though none are downtown.
